Based in Switzerland, doodle.lidoo, is a producer of playfully stylish handmade accessories for children and child-at-heart grown-ups. Whether it’s for dress-up, playtime, special occasions, or just a school day, at doodle.lidoo our aim is to bring some delight and sparkle to everyday life. All our products are handmade in small quantities with child safety and the environment in mind, using only non-toxic materials.
I founded doodle.lidoo in 2014, after years of working as a mechanical consulting engineer in California. I sometimes joke that after my daughter was born I had two children – a very big one, my corporate clients; and a tiny one, my newborn – who were both screaming for my attention. When my daughter turned two, I decided that I had enough of the corporate world and wanted to devote more time to her and my first, but not forgotten, love of art and design.
Throughout my life I’ve explored various art forms. I had a 2-year stint at the San Francisco Art Institute, majoring in painting and printmaking. Later, I took courses in industrial design through the Art Center College of Design Pasadena, and before my daughter was born I bought a sewing machine, got hooked on apparel design and patternmaking at Apparel Arts in SF, started sewing and designing and haven’t stopped since.
It’s been a fun roller-coaster ride, and I am grateful for the experiences and mentors that I have had through my career, my imaginative daughter, a supportive scientist husband who sometimes moonlights as the doodle.lidoo proofreader and copy editor, and all the other creative minds, and wonderful clients around me. They all are a big source of inspiration and part of doodle.lidoo.
